Stepping Out In Style 2013

On Friday, September 27, 2013, Dress for Success Indianapolis and PNC Bank presented the 11th annual Stepping Out In Style fundraising event in downtown Indianapolis at the J.W. Marriott!

It was a night of high fashion, great food, critical fundraising and loads of fun! The evening included a cocktail reception sponsored by Bedel Financial Consulting, Inc., dinner, fashion show, and an after party sponsored by Citizen’s Energy Group.

The Bedel Financial Consulting, Inc. cocktail reception began at 5 p.m., followed by the dinner, fashion show and the Citizen’s Energy Group after party. During the cocktail reception guests could purchase raffle tickets, bid on fabulous silent auction items, and try their hand at the Diamond Dig, sponsored by Aronstam Fine Jewelers! They then joined us at the after party to visit with friends and meet our models and sponsors for the evening.

Dress for Success Indianapolis will welcomed community leaders as models to the stage for a high-energy fashion show. They were wearing unique clothing from upscale local boutiques and walked the catwalk escorted by esteemed members of the Indianapolis Fire Department.

This year, Julia Moffitt from WTHR – Channel 13 kept us entertained onstage as the evening’s emcee. Allison Melangton, served as the event’s Honorary Chairperson and joined Denny Sponsel, President of RJE Business Interiors, on stage as they helped us raise the money to make our work possible. The event netted over $200,000 for Dress for Success Indianapolis! THANK YOU!

Send One Suit – Week 2013

Dress for Success Indianapolis is calling on women in the community to pass on their success by donating gently-used suits. The organization is sending out an S.O.S. to central Indiana residents to donate suits and blouses and make a financial contribution during the annual Send One Suit – Week, April 15 to April 19, 2013. For the seventh time, Classic Cleaners is supporting Send One Suit – Week by providing coupons to those who donate during this campaign.

SOS Week logoEach year Dress for Success Indianapolis issues an S.O.S. to all Indianapolis residents: Donate one new or nearly new business suit and blouse and give a financial donation to help a local woman enter the workforce.

The public can help by either donating gently used women’s suits and blouses at any Classic Cleaners store throughout the week or by making a financial donation to support the non-profit’s operations. All donations support the Dress for Success affiliate in Indianapolis. Classic Cleaners has a special offer for anyone who gives a suit, blouse, or financial donation at a registered private drive during S.O.S – Week. Every S.O.S. – Week donor will receive a coupon for $10 off a dry cleaning order of $20 or more. Businesses interested in hosting a S.O.S. – Week private drive should go here to sign up to host a drive.

Donated suits and blouses will be sent to Dress for Success Indianapolis boutique to be stocked in the organization’s boutique. Then they will be given to disadvantaged women through the Suits for Success program to help transform the way they look and feel about their upcoming interview. Each woman is referred to the Suits for Success program by one of over 90 Dress for Success Indianapolis’s partner referral agencies when she is job-ready and has an interview scheduled. Once hired, she is invited back to the boutique to select an outfit appropriate for her new position. With your donations, you make it possible for more clients to say things like, “I felt like the suit I chose was once worn by a very successful woman who had just passed on a bit of her success to me.”

The journey towards self-sufficiency does not end after the clients have received work apparel. Dress for Success Indianapolis also invites its clients to join the Professional Women’s Group, which meets monthly to provide post-employment support to women on their journey to self-sufficiency. The organization also provides every client with individualized career support through its Career Development Center.
