Supporters across Indianapolis are encouraged to share their most memorable professional accomplishments and donate shoes to Dress for Success Indianapolis on Giving Tuesday


California Closets to provide an award for the top shoe donor in Indianapolis, ShoeDazzle to provide awards to the top ten donors throughout U.S. and Canada



Indianapolis, IN (November 11, 2016): Dress for Success® is encouraging its supporters to inspire women around the world by pairing shoe donations with the memory of an ‘In These Shoes’ accomplishment, as the not-for-profit organization once again celebrates #GivingShoesDay on Giving Tuesday, November 29th, 2016. The philanthropic one-day event urges women to give back to their local community by donating nearly new, professional shoes to Dress for Success Indianapolis or gifting a virtual and brand new pair of shoes in the form of a monetary donation.


The top ten donors who give the most shoes will be awarded a $75 dollar gift card to ShoeDazzle. In-kind donors also have the potential to do double good as ShoeDazzle will also be awarding the top three Dress for Success affiliates that garner the most total shoe donations throughout North America with thirty $100 gift cards for brand new product. Locally, California Closets is awarding the top shoe donor in Indianapolis with a $500 California Closets gift card.


Since its inception in 2012, the #GivingShoesDay campaign has overwhelmingly amassed more than 17,000 pairs of shoes donated through the organization’s 145 affiliates around the world. This year Dress for Success wants to explore the emotional significance of donating. “When remembering the biggest moments in our lives, the smallest details can take on a larger significance. This year we want our supporters to celebrate giving back with the professional accomplishments they’ve had,” said Joi Gordon, CEO of Dress for Success Worldwide. “We hope that the generous donations we receive this year allow our donors to reflect on their own journeys and encourage another woman to succeed the same way they have.”



To participate, women can bring their shoes to Dress for Success Indianapolis at any Central Indiana TCU branch, at California Closets’ showroom in Carmel, or at the office of Dress for Success Indianapolis between 9am-5pm on Tuesday, November 29th. Dress for Success Indianapolis has been the top affiliate for shoe donations for the past three years and hopes to continue this giving streak again this year.

Bell’s for Belles Four Course Beer Dinner

Dress for Success Indianapolis is proud to partner with Bell’s Brewery and Plow & Anchor for Bell’s for Belles, a four course dinner with Bell’s beer pairings. The dinner will be at Plow & Anchor (right next to the Central Library on 9th and Pennsylvania) on Thursday, October 20. Joining us for the evening will be Laura Bell, Vice President of Bell’s Brewery.

VIP starts at 6pm, regular menu starts at 6:30.

VIP tickets are $150 and include time with Laura Bell, an additional beer tasting and an appetizer prepared by Plow & Anchor owner and acclaimed chef, Craig Baker.

Regular tickets are $125 and include four courses and four beer samples. We will also have a small silent auction.

The next day, at The Tap (306 N. Delaware), Bell’s is doing a tap takeover where they will be serving 30 different and rare Bell’s beers. The Tap will be donating $1 of every Bell’s beer served that business day between 11am and 2am to Dress for Success Indianapolis. Laura Bell will also be at The Tap that evening.

Dress for Success Indianapolis Announces Details About Stepping Out In

Style 2016 Fashion Fundraiser


On Friday, September 9, 2016, Dress for Success Indianapolis and PNC Bank will present the 14th annual Stepping Out In Style fundraising event in downtown Indianapolis at the JW Marriott!


It will be a night of high fashion, great food, critical fundraising and loads of fun! The evening includes a cocktail reception sponsored by Bedel Financial Consulting, Inc., dinner, fashion show and an after party sponsored by Mainstreet. Artwork for this year’s event was created by Ashley Chew.


The Bedel Financial Consulting, Inc. cocktail reception begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner, fashion show and the Mainstreet after party. During the cocktail reception, guests can purchase tickets for the Grand Prize Drawing, and try their hand at the Diamond Dig, sponsored by Aronstam Fine Jewelers! New this year, a Wine Pull will be offered to our guests and will feature 400 bottles of wine! Guests can then join us at the after party to visit with friends and meet our models, artist and sponsors for the evening.


Dress for Success Indianapolis will welcome community leaders and two of our Professional Women’s Group members as models to the stage for a high-energy fashion show. They will be wearing unique clothing from upscale local boutiques and walking the catwalk escorted by esteemed members of the Indianapolis Fire Department.


Longtime supporter, Julia Moffitt, will grace the runway this year as our Honorary Chair, while Denny Sponsel, President of RJE Business Interiors, also returns as our Match Sponsor challenging our guests to raise more money than ever before to reach our $200,000+ fundraising goal.

During this week in April we ask members of our community to host a drive at their workplaces, places of worship or other organization. During April 17-22 drive hosts collect women’s suits and blouses, along with financial donations to benefit Dress for Success Indianapolis and the women we serve.

AmeriCorps VISTA Needed!

Dress for Success Indianapolis is seeking a full-time VISTA Volunteer who will be responsible for developing and implementing a new program to increase employment retention of women largely employed in high turnover fields.  Building on already successful agency programming that promotes economic success for women, this VISTA Volunteer will experience first-hand the development and implementation of programs that make measurable impact on the women we serve. Nina Mason Pulliam Charitable Trust Gives Two-Year Grant

Dress for Success Indianapolis has received a two-year grant totaling $100,000 from the Nina Mason Pulliam Charitable Trust.

Through the generous funding of the Nina Mason Pulliam Charitable Trust, we will expand our pre-employment training and also develop a new program designed to assist women with keeping employment through their first 90 days on the job. We are thrilled to also announce we will be adding an Americorps VISTA to develop, launch and execute the new program. Without the generous funding provided by the Nina Mason Charitable Trust, this new work would not be possible.

During her career, Nina Mason Pulliam shared her financial success and business leadership skills with many charities. She was particularly sensitive to human needs, animal welfare and environmental issues. “She had a keen awareness of challenges that face our community and would take great pride in the outstanding work being done by organizations like Dress for Success Indianapolis,” said Carol Schilling, Trustee chairman. “Through her Trust, we continue to build on her legacy which clearly reflects her heart for philanthropy.”

The grant to Dress for Success Indianapolis represents one of 27 awarded to nonprofit organizations in Indiana by the Nina Mason Pulliam Charitable Trust during the second of two grant cycles this year. Since the Trust began its grant making in 1998, it has awarded more than $252 million to nonprofit organizations in Indiana and Arizona. Last year, Dress for Success Indianapolis received more than three times as many shoes compared to ANY Dress for Success affiliate. We also saved over $2,000 because we didn’t have to buy as many shoes this year. If we are again the top affiliate, we will receive a $500 ALDO gift certificate to buy even more shoes!
