Julie Roe Lach is a community-minded leader who believes in perspective, connection, and lifting others as she rises. Her career has taken her through college athletics, law, and community leadership, where she has continued to find ways to make an impact. Away from work, Julie enjoys family dinners, bass fishing, and a little basketball in the driveway.

Q & A
“Elevate” is this year’s theme. What does elevate mean to you, and how are you living it out right now?
Elevate means rising above — the challenges, the frustrations, the noise — and trying to be the best version of yourself. Generally, a higher elevation somehow helps our perspective, which usually allows us to see joys and hardships in a larger context.
What empowerment advice would you give a woman who’s ready to take her next step?
Lift as you rise. You are ready for it, and you are not alone. We are here to help when you need it and seek ways to help others.
Explain what motivates or grounds you when life or work feels challenging?
My family. My husband, David, is a steady force. He supports me, challenges me to push myself, and is there for me when I’m struggling.
What brings you the most joy or energy outside of your work?
Having a family dinner with our daughters, Halle and Harper. There is something magical that happens at the dinner table (beyond the fact we got food on the table and are sitting down at the same time to eat!). As our kids start talking about their days, the stories start rolling and it’s always the best part of the day.
Tell us about any unique skills, talents, or interesting hobbies.
I really like to bass fish, especially back home in southern Illinois where I was born and raised. I think I also have a talent for being able to talk with anyone. I watched my dad make everyone he met feel at ease and seen. I try to do the same thing. He always sees the good in people. And, I still have a decent jump shot when playing basketball in the driveway.
How and why do you support the Dress for Success Indianapolis purpose?
I see women lifting up other women all over our city. The service and support Dress for Success provides is impactful and inspirational. As a woman prepares to take the next step in her career, it can be intimidating. Having the holistic support provided by Dress for Success provides hope, understanding and the needed boost of confidence for the next step in our journey.
