Q & A
“Elevate” is this year’s theme. What does elevate mean to you, and how are you living it out right now?
Elevate means bringing your A game wherever you are and being someone who helps the team soar and reach greater heights. In my current role, I uplift my teammates and show them their own greatness and strengths. I am also pushing us to identify ways to improve our game and deliver more.
What empowerment advice would you give a woman who’s ready to take her next step?
Manifest what you want. Meaning, self-talk. Tell yourself every day that your dream or goal is a reality, that you have what it takes, and then do the work as if it all depends upon you being the expert in that space.
Explain what motivates or grounds you when life or work feels challenging?
I think about the example I am setting for my children, and the sacrifice my parents made for me to be where I am. When life gets challenging, I walk in the fresh air. There is something about breathing that fresh air that settles me and allows me to ground myself.
What brings you the most joy or energy outside of your work?
My family. I have two wonderful children who are currently in college and to see their growth and development, academically and personally, is so exciting and inspiring for me. It brings me so much joy to see my children winning at life despite any challenges or obstacles they may encounter.
Tell us about any unique skills, talents, or interesting hobbies.
One of my skills and hobbies is international culture and languages. I am pretty good at speaking Spanish and love the culture. I am constantly trying to listen to a podcast or watch a TV show to improve my Spanish speaking skills.
