- What inspired you to get involved with Dress for Success Indianapolis?
What first drew me in was the mission of helping women step forward with confidence and dignity at critical moments in their lives. I have been involved, proudly supporting Dress for Success for over 20 years. Early on, I saw that it was not just about clothing. It was about equipping and empowering women to succeed. That deeply aligns with my own passion and commitment for lifting women into leadership, purpose, and economic opportunity.
- What impact on women have you seen through volunteering?
Investing in women creates a cycle of growth and opportunity. Women don’t just succeed individually. They bring others along. They lead and mentor. They build stronger families, workplaces, and communities. Through my work with Building Leaders + Legacies, I’ve seen how women lead with purpose and give back. When women have access, support, and confidence, the impact extends far beyond them. That ripple effect creates lasting economic, social, and generational impact.
How does volunteering change the way you see women’s potential?
Confidence is foundational. It’s often the difference between staying still and stepping forward. Many women experience imposter syndrome and question whether they belong. I often find myself reminding women that if you are at the table, you belong there. Your voice is needed, and your perspective and experience matter. When confidence is nurtured through support and preparation, it unlocks potential and opens doors that may have once felt out of reach, truly changing the trajectory of a woman’s life.
- Why does showing up for women matter?
There is power in shared experience and encouragement. Dress for Success creates an environment where women are supported and reminded of their potential. Women inspiring women creates community and connection. It breaks down isolation and builds a culture of support. We all benefit when women are intentional about opening doors and pouring into one another. I truly believe we should lift as we climb, ensuring others rise alongside us.
- What would you tell someone thinking about empowering women through volunteering with Dress for Success Indianapolis?
Know your values and let them guide you. Lead with integrity, invest in your growth, pursue excellence, and surround yourself with people who support and challenge you. Don’t let fear or doubt hold you back. Don’t apologize for your success. Know that you are worthy. Know that you are worth it.
