Director of Operations and Impact
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Operations and Impact will have strategic and operational responsibility for the Dress for Success Indianapolis (DFSI) programs, including Professional Women’s Group (PWG), Career Development Coaching (CDC), Success Coaching (SC), Style for Success (SFS), and the Career Pathway Navigator (CPN). The Director of Operations and Impact will lead each program, provide oversite to programming managers, and fully oversee the impactful growth of all programming for DFSI’s strategic planning and sustainability.
Core Responsibilities:
- Accountable for the strategic direction, measurable outcomes, and sustainability of DFSI programs, ensuring alignment with the organization’s mission and long-term goals.
- Develop and implement innovative program strategies, foster cross-functional collaboration, and manage a team of programming managers to deliver exceptional impact to the community.
- Provide visionary leadership and cultivate a culture of excellence within all programs.
- Design and implement metrics to measure program success, ensuring continuous improvement and scalable impact.
- Oversee the budgetary, resource allocation, and financial sustainability of all programs, with a focus on maximizing return on investment.
- Represent Dress for Success Indianapolis in the community with key stakeholders to build partnerships with nonprofit referral agencies.
- Serve as staff liaison for the Stepping Out In Style Logistics Committee attending the event, along with the PWG Resource Committee, and the DEIB Committee.
- Must have a strong, collaborative relationship with the Board of Directors.
Strategic Oversight and Program Development:
- Lead and oversee the strategic direction and operational execution of all programs to ensure alignment with organizational goals and mission impact.
- Leverage data-driven insights to enhance program outcomes and expand reach, fostering sustainable growth and long-term success.
- Prepare and deliver bi-monthly program reports to the Board of Directors, providing updates on progress, challenges, and opportunities for growth.
- Provide direct supervision to programming managers, ensuring their professional growth and the successful implementation of program objectives.
- Conduct annual and semi-annual performance review evaluations and coach and train program managers to meet program objectives.
- Cultivate a collaborative and results-oriented team culture, empowering staff to achieve excellence while fostering innovation.
- Work with the Senior Director of Marketing & Communications for volunteer recruitment and conduct volunteer orientations.
Impact Measurement and Community Engagement:
- Oversee all reporting requirements for Worldwide Dress for Success, ensuring accuracy and alignment with global standards.
- Develop and implement systems to measure the effectiveness and impact of core programs, ensuring they meet or exceed key performance indicators.
- Lead system integration and process improvement projects.
- Serve as a thought leader in the nonprofit and workforce development sectors, identifying emerging trends and translating them into actionable opportunities for growth.
- Collaborate closely with the Executive Director to shape organizational strategy, ensuring programs remain responsive to the needs of the community while maximizing impact.
- Collaborate closely with the Senior Director of Marketing & Communications to ensure that programing communication goals are met and measured.
- Represent the organization in key community and stakeholder engagements, elevating the Dress for Success brand and driving strategic partnerships.
Survey Design, Data Science & Analysis, and Process Improvement:
- Leverage data-driven insights to enhance program performance, track key metrics, and support strategic decision-making.
- Conduct regular process improvement audits to streamline operations, optimize resource allocation, and maximize efficiency.
- Lead the creation, deployment, and analysis of comprehensive surveys to assess program effectiveness and identify opportunities for growth.
- Utilize survey data to inform programmatic adjustments and demonstrate impact to stakeholders.
Corporate and Referral Agency Partnerships:
- Establish and nurture partnerships with referral agencies to drive new programing innovations.
- Facilitate referral partnership touchpoints and orientations to strengthen relationships and foster collaborative innovation through strategic think tanks.
Grant Management and Development:
- Manage all aspects of grant applications & reports in collaboration with an external agency to ensure transparency, compliance, and alignment with funder requirements.
- Proactively identify and secure new grant opportunities to support innovative programming and expand DFSI’s impact.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with grant funders, providing timely updates on outcomes and program successes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher education required, or equivalent experience demonstrating advanced competency in program leadership and operations.
- Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in the nonprofit sector with demonstrated success in strategic program management
- Proven expertise in casework or case management with a focus on impactful outcomes
- Extensive experience in grant administration, budgeting, and outcome measurement, showcasing financial acumen and strategic oversight
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with a welcoming and professional demeanor, both in person and over the phone
- Experienced leader with the ability to enforce policies with fairness and maturity
- Professional presence with a polished and confident image
- Strong proficiency in written and verbal communication, with a proven ability to influence and inspire diverse stakeholders
- Demonstrated success in collaborating with diverse groups of individuals, fostering inclusion and belonging
- Advanced proficiency in Salesforce or other CRM, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, with the ability to leverage technology for operational efficiency
- High level of passion, dedication, and commitment to advancing the Dress for Success mission, serving as a brand ambassador
- Comprehensive understanding of diverse community resources and effective navigation strategies
Classification & Hours:
- Full-time, salaried, exempt position
- Hybrid work schedule with one day per week remote option four days per week on site
- Flexibility for occasional evening or weekend work for programs or events
