Indianapolis (December 2, 2014): Dress for Success® is once again turning #GivingTuesday into #GivingShoesDay on Tuesday, December 2, 2014, to honor this day of giving. For the third year in a row, #GivingShoesDay encourages women to donate their professional shoes to one of more than 135 Dress for Success affiliates across the world—including Dress for Success Indianapolis.
Last year, Fergie Footwear partnered with Dress for Success Worldwide to give something back to those that donate their shoes on this distinguished day of charity and, this year, the shoe brand is upping the ante. The top 10 individual shoe donors from around the world will receive a complimentary pair of limited holiday edition Raegan heels, in addition, the top three Dress for Success affiliates across the globe that garner the most total donations will also be awarded with a special gift of brand new shoes directly from Fergie Footwear. Last year, one of the donors from Indianapolis was among the top 10 donors and received a complimentary pair of Fergie Footwear heels.
Joining the ranks of post-Thanksgiving campaigns such as Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday, #GivingShoesDay has proven to be a tremendous #GivingTuesday success for Dress for Success Indianapolis. In 2013 over 250 pairs of interview-appropriate shoes were donated. This year, Dress for Success Indianapolis is partnering with central Indiana Teachers Credit Union (TCU) branches to provide donors even more locations to donate. Interview-appropriate shoes will be collected on December 2nd from 9am-5pm at any Central Indiana TCU branch, or directly at Dress for Success Indianapolis (820 N. Meridian St., Indianapolis, IN).
“Dress for Success Indianapolis does so much more than provide interview attire for women in our community. We also help women step closer to self-sufficiency by helping them prepare for, secure and keep sustainable employment. In order to do this, we rely on our amazing community to continue to provide resources so our women have the opportunity to achieve success in work, and in life,” said Barbara Ellsworth, Executive Director.
To participate in Giving Shoes Day, women can simply bring their shoes to any central Indiana TCU location, or directly to Dress for Success Indianapolis at 820 N. Meridian Street on Tuesday, December 2nd from 9am-5pm. For those who would like to donate shoes for #GivingShoesDay, but are not able to bring them in on that day, the professional footwear can be sent to the Dress for Success Indianapolis, where donations of clothing, shoes and accessories are always accepted. These shipped donations must arrive by December 2 to be considered for #GivingShoesDay, with a note stating that #GivingShoesDay is what the shoes are being donated for.
