Thanks to you, more than 1,000 Indianapolis women have received interview suits, career development services, and professional trainings on their journey towards economic independence. The effect of the work we do at Dress for Success goes beyond strengthening the women we support, it strengthens children, families, and communities. It is because of your generosity that these women and their families are increasingly stable and financially secure.
Let me introduce you to Andrea Sims.
Andrea is a survivor of domestic violence, who had to face the day to day realities of being a divorced, single mother. One of her children has special needs with autism. A car accident left Andrea emotionally, physically, and financially depleted, but also made her even more determined to succeed. Andrea had to re-learn how to walk and how to learn, eventually graduating with an Associate’s Degree in May of this year. During her time in college, Andrea demonstrated leadership as a Student Senator and Vice President of the Business Club, while serving on the Campus Activists Board. As a dean’s list student, she was awarded the honor of becoming a Chancellor’s Service Scholar, Bowen Scholar, and Trio Scholar. She plans to earn her Bachelor’s Degree in the following years. Andrea is the first of ten siblings to graduate from college, while working two jobs, caring for her sons, and being an active member of the Professional Women’s Group (PWG) at Dress for Success Indianapolis.
She attributes Dress for Success for helping her to develop outside and in. To her, that is priceless!
Every day, your support makes stories like Andrea’s possible. We are ending our year with a Year-End Campaign goal of raising $25,000, which would allow us to provide employment preparedness workshops for an additional 500 local women. We need your help to make it happen. Empowering working women is essential to the future of our community, and your gift makes our work possible.
Would you be willing to make a special year-end donation to help us meet our goal? Gifts can be made online at www.indydfs.org or by check.
Thank you for your continued support and friendship.
With gratitude,
Julie Petr
