Inspiring working women is essential to the future of our community, and your gift makes our work possible. The effect of the work we do goes beyond strengthening the women we serve, it strengthens children and families.
Let me tell you about one of those women, Ki. Ki came to Dress for Success Indianapolis in early 2013 at a time she refers to as her ‘dark state.’ She participated in our pre-employment training and once she found a job, she stayed involved. She found a haven in Professional Women’s Group (PWG) and valued being a part of a sisterhood while having the comfort of being exactly who she was at the time.
Ki’s is the proud single mom of four children, two biological adult children and two adopted from a family member. She works full time and also owns a small business, Silk’s Essentials, where she makes and sells body care items. Her kids are big a part of the business and learn valuable lessons through working with their mom. Ki’s journey is also not over, she’s got big plans for her business, her children and herself. We can’t wait to see what she does next.
It doesn’t take much. With your support, we can help women in Indiana find meaningful employment and careers; women like Ki who now has a plan for her, and her children’s, futures. A donation of $150 will help a woman who has an upcoming interview find the perfect interview outfit, while a donation of $50 will pay for a job preparedness workshop.
