DRESS FOR SUCCESS INDIANAPOLIS ANNOUNCES GRANT FROM THE NINA MASON PULLIAM CHARITABLE TRUST
Grant funds break down barriers to self-sufficiency for Indy women
Indianapolis, IN – Dress for Success Indianapolis has received a grant totaling $100,000 from the Nina Mason Pulliam Charitable Trust. “Our agency has served more than 17,000 women seeking career advancement and economic independence over the last 20 years,” said Julie Petr, Executive Director, Dress for Success Indianapolis. “This grant from the Nina Mason Pulliam Charitable Trust will give us additional resources to provide comprehensive wrap around services to women in Central Indiana.”
Many clients of Dress for Success Indianapolis face barriers such as lack of stable housing, unreliable transportation and child care, legal problems, and lack of job skills which can make finding a job nearly impossible. Without a dedicated person on hand to assist, many of our women continue to drown in chaos with no support and struggle to provide for themselves and their families. These critical funds will allow Dress for Success Indianapolis to onboard a success coach to assess each woman’s barriers, identify and connect her to resources, develop career goals, provide job leads and provide ongoing follow-up for long-term success.
“It’s important to address the barriers that interfere with a person’s ability to keep a job, like childcare issues, transportation and unstable housing. Dress for Success is helping women find and stay in jobs by providing help with these stumbling blocks,” said President and CEO Gene D’Adamo, Nina Mason Pulliam Charitable Trust.
Since the Trust began its grant making in 1998, it has awarded more than $317 million to 989 organizations in its home states of Indiana and Arizona. For more information about the Trust and its programs visit www.ninapulliamtrust.org.
