Penny Smith was introduced to Dress for Success Indianapolis (DFSI) after being downsized in 2017, and she has been involved with the organization ever since. Throughout the years, her favorite memory with the organization is the first time she stepped through the door of the boutique. “The experience was overwhelming; however, everyone was kind, helpful, [and] patient,” she said.
Penny deeply appreciates the DFSI staff and the opportunities provided by the Professional Women’s Group (PWG). In particular, she has benefitted from the PWG classes and guest speakers, which support not only her career development but also her personal growth. Like many women involved with DFSI, Penny loves to “pay it forward” by sharing helpful resources with other women so that they can thrive, too.
Penny refers to DFSI as a “sisterhood,” which provides her with ongoing support and encouragement. “I stay engaged with the sisterhood because they have given me a place to grow and network.”
The Professional Women’s Group (PWG) is an ongoing program hosted by DFSI, offered to help employed women develop skills and knowledge that can propel them to a sustainable career. Learn more about PWG here.
